How we’ve helped

The Fund was set up in 1882 as a memorial to Sir Rowland Hill, the great postal reformer and founder of the modern postal service.

One of the key ways the Fund helps families is to financially support those that are dealing with the painful issue of a sick member of the family. Often, this means a reduction in working hours and with the added pressure of hospital visits, can mean a serious drop in income.

Sometimes practical issues take centre stage. A colleague with two children requested help towards arrears in bills after he became ill with heart problems and had a considerable amount of time off work. The Fund was able to help the family by paying off the arrears so that he could concentrate on his recovery.

The Fund has also helped a family who needed an urgent roof repair after water started seeping into an upstairs bedroom.

And, to provide help to RMG pensioners, the Fund also bought a new cooker and fridge for an elderly couple whose sheltered housing had provided them with old, inefficient equipment.

Whatever your problem or concern, why not get in touch.
