Royal Mail is committed to placing equality, diversity and respect at the heart of our business
Altogether Different

Diversity is our different lives.

Diversity and inclusion is about ensuring we create a positive working environment, where all of us feel comfortable bringing our whole selves to work. It’s about having representation from a wide variety of groups but, more importantly, it’s about giving all of those groups a voice and an opportunity to contribute.

You may or may not be a member of one of the 'protected characteristics' of the Equality Act 2010. These 'protected characteristics' may or may not be visible. But regardless, there’s one thing we all have in common - we are all a part of Royal Mail. 'Altogether, Different.'

Royal Mail has long been a part of the fabric of the UK, delivering to every address regardless of the race, gender, sexuality, disability or religious beliefs of those who live there. As a company, we are committed to placing equality, diversity and respect at the heart of our business. As such, we employ a workforce that reflects this commitment to diversity; where all of our differences are valued.

Being Altogether Different means recognising our differences, respecting each other for the unique qualities we bring and using the diversity of our workforce to our advantage; learning from each other, supporting each other and utilising everyone’s contributions to enhance our collective performance.

Our Diversity Council overseas the diversity strategy for Royal Mail and holds our senior leaders to account on their commitments to diversity and inclusion. The Diversity Council is supported by steering groups that advise and direct the business towards achieving inclusivity across all of the key strands of diversity.

Our steering groups include:

BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic)

LGBT+ & Friends (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans*)

Parents & Carers

Youth & Friends

Inclusion is part of everything we do at Royal Mail but if you have a specific interest in diversity and inclusion and want to get more involved in any of the activities going on across the business then take a look at the steering group pages above for more information about what’s going on.

Be part of it.
