Coronavirus - latest advice and guidance

We want to keep all our colleagues up-to-date on the coronavirus pandemic and what it means for Royal Mail and our people.
Coronavirus - latest advice and guidance

We wish to reassure colleagues that since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, we have been closely following Public Health England and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidance so that we can provide advice on preventative measures and minimise the risks to our people.

The latest up-to-date information and advice can be found within our Questions & Answers document (updated 14/07/20 18:20).

The latest updates include face coverings in Scotland, positive coronavirus test results and contractors on site.

It is crucial that everyone follows basic hygiene techniques. This includes, washing your hands regularly, particularly before eating, and regularly using antiseptic wipes to clean shared equipment, such as keyboards, PDAs and scanners.

If you have a cold, dispose of any tissues immediately and try to cough into your elbow rather than into your hands.

Temporary use of face masks - please refer to the updated guidelines here.

What to do if...

  • you think you have symptoms
  • you might have been exposed to the virus (through travel or contact with a suspected, or confirmed, case.

Colleagues should visit the NHS 111 online portal and complete the coronavirus self-assessment questionnaire.

The UK Government has extended testing for coronavirus to essential workers, including Royal Mail employees and their households who are self-isolating with symptoms. Eligible employees can self-serve via the UK Government website: https://self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/.

A full testing questions and answers document is available here.
