I am all for life being made easier, so, in common with many people, I welcomed the new commitment from banks which means you can switch current accounts within seven days.

So far, according to latest figures from the Payments Council 1.14 million people have taken advantage of this service.

The process of switching, with all the changing of standing orders and direct debits which used to take so long and was often too much bother, has been made much easier. But one thing hasn’t – access to statements!

It's a world in union - when it comes to paper bills!

I’ve been in Australia this week, but even though they can’t officially join our UK Keep Me Posted campaign, I’ve found people experiencing similar problems with companies looking to move consumers’ bills and statements online rather than on paper.

We’ve even had supportive tweets from our Aussie friends, including my favourite “You guys rock! Gotta get your ideas working Down Under”!

  • Two thirds of people that don’t bank online cite concerns over trust (65%) and security (64%). Only one per cent said it was because they rarely use the internet, a major behavioural study* commissioned by the Keep Me Posted campaign has revealed
  • Online banking fraud losses rose by 50 per cent to £60 million in 2014, according to figures released todayThe study also revealed the most important reason for receiving a paper bank statement is to check for fraudulent or incorrect transactions (77 per cent)
