Judith Donovan CBE, Chair, of the Keep Me Posted campaign, comments on the findings of the Competition and Markets Authority Review into the personal current accounts market:

“The CMA’s recommendations aim to provide a fairer and more transparent system for all consumers. However, their heavy focus on digital technology doesn’t consider the needs of consumers who either can’t or won’t manage their accounts online.

“The introduction of new phone-based apps, which will allow customers to view the best account for them, will be beneficial to many banking customers across the UK. Yet we must remember that 5.3 million UK consumers* have never used the internet and countless others who might not have the digital skills or confidence, or the resources, to manage their affairs online or via a smartphone.

“The Keep Me Posted campaign believes that a truly fair system can only come if we try and give all consumers choice in how they manage their affairs.”
